This is an important corridor for the state of West Bengal as it passes through important economic areas of the state like Maldah, Siliguri, and the tea garden belts in Duars region. Major benefits of this corridor are:

• Availability of road network as it is along the major National Highways
• Major portion of the corridor are covered by rail networks
• Proximity to power generating stations ensures easy availability of electricity
• Connectivity with North-eastern states is a major advantage
